“Is that a cello? Where are your frets?” In this class we will learn how to answer questions like these and learn how to play the behemoth that is the upright bass! If you have never played bass or any other stringed instrument, you can learn how to play. Even if you have some experience, you can learn some new techniques. Playing the bass is a ton of fun! We will cover basic technique, songs/bass lines, and playing with other musicians.

Class Level: Beginner/Novice

Adrian grew up in Fairhope, Alabama where he began playing guitar. Once he realized the upright bass was way cooler than guitar, his path was fixed. He studied jazz bass at The University of Alabama, and played in a variety of bands across the Tuscaloosa area. Adrian has lived and played in many cities from El Paso to Charleston and played many different genres along the way. He now lives in Birmingham, where he plays with Early James and The Latest; a country-blues duo that has shared the stage with the Jerry Douglas Band, The Earls of Leicester, Amanda Shires, and many other amazing acts. He also plays early american music with his longtime band, The Voodoo Saints.
