Jammin' Jellies & Sassy Soups! This class will cover basic food preservation including freezing foods, drying foods, water bath canning and pressure canning. Students will learn the proper use of both the water bath canner and the pressure canner. Students will participate in hands-on food preservation with a make, taste, and take philosophy! Our focus will be on jellies and soups. 

Class Level: Beginner/Novice, Advanced Beginner

Susan Hill is a Regional Extension Agent in Food Safety and Quality for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System serving Winston county. She first learned how to preserve food from her grandmother, aka Mawmaw, while hiding out and watching from behind her Pawpaw's chair. She recaptured her love for food preservation while pursuing her degree at the University of North Alabama. She currently teaches food preservation all ages--from preschoolers to adults.
