$389 - $719 TOTAL WORKSHOP COST
($252 tuition + $40 materials fee + $97-427 lodging & meals package of choice)

Students will building patterned beads with simple polymer clay techniques and use the beads to make custom jewelry. The Skinner blend--the blending of 2 or more colors--will be taught in detail. After creating skinner blends, students will use them to build canes that will be used for our beads. The class will then build flower, bulls-eye, and accordion canes. Once we build, slice, and cure our beads, students will turn them into earrings, necklaces, and more. This class is great for beginners and experienced polymer clay and jewelry artists

If you already use polymer clay as your medium, we can build on your existing skills in the class. You will also find this to be a great retreat with creative surroundings. If you design and create jewelry, then this will give you a way to create unique, one of a kind beads to enrich your work.

The instructor will provide basic tools we can share. Most of the work is with your hands.

Suggested Class Materials: good baby wipes and any hand tools you may already have for jewelry making or polymer clay.

An estimated $40 materials fee will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of the class. The fee covers clay, wax paper, blades, and jewelry making tools and findings. Students will take home all jewelry created, as well as a blade, brayer, and additional clay.

Class Level: Beginner/Novice, Multi-Level

Lee Anne Jones is a self-taught polymer clay artist. She uses polymer clay because of the versatility of the material, the colors, and how the clay can be blended with different mediums to create patterns and textures. Lee Anne uses blades, brayers, a pasta machine, and an extruder to turn solid colors of clay into amazing patterns. She use various stamps, cutters, and odd household items to imprint and shape her creations. Lee Anne also mixes translucent liquid clay into opaque colors by adding alcohol ink and pastels. Lee Anne started by making earrings, necklaces and bracelets, but has moved on to covering odd sizes of glass vases and jars with her designs.
