Instructor: Jayne Morgan
Kentuck Artist In Residence

$438 - $828 TOTAL WORKSHOP COST
($300 tuition + $138-528 lodging & meals package of choice)

We will spend most of our time on the basic principles of design--the rules of composition, value, color, and shape --and how to apply them to our paintings. We will then experiment with color relationships using an alternative to the traditional color wheel and explore color mixing. We will push our compositions and learn simple rules to avoid a boring still life. There will be demos with handouts and one-on-one critiques throughout the class.

Class Level: Multi-Level

Jayne Morgan, “the Honey Bear girl”, made her first honey bear painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA.  The honey bears are an homage to her family for supporting her to become an artist. When the family would sit down for dinner the honey bear would have to be on the table, and whatever bread they had with dinner became sweeter with honey.  This sweet memory has created a name for Jayne in the Bluff Park community in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, where she teaches classes at her studio and hosts a painting program for the beloved Exceptional Foundation.  Jayne and her honey bears travel across the country to many art festivals in places such as Denver, Colorado, Austin, Texas, and New York.
