All Aboard! This Train Is Bound for UkeAdelphia!

You've played uke long enough to be comfortable playing chords in the Keys of C, G, D, A and F. You've worked on making smooth transitions in your chord progressions, keeping steady rhythm, and perhaps you're singing while you accompany yourself or play with other folks. We'll start with a quick chord review, then we'll polish those skills and work to put percussive emphasis into our strumming, relax while we play, learn some fun ways to practice, expand our repertoire, and accompany ourselves by singing, humming and whistling. We'll also work on playing uke with other instruments: guitar, fiddle, banjo and melodeon (button accordion).

Required Class Materials: A ukulele, tuned GCEA, with a tuner. A recording device is recommended.

Charlie Hartness has played Old-Time music for over twenty years. Jere Canote started him on the uke, which felt so good in his hands, he sold his guitar. Nancy and Charlie have played guitar and uke, respectively, on recordings with Spencer & Rains and Jimmy Triplett. They co-authored a ukulele book, Uke Chicks, with Susie Coleman. They live, play, sing, and write in Athens, Georgia as the duo Hawk Proof Rooster. They released their first record together, Got A Little Home, in 2017. www.hawkproofrooster.com
