We will be humming and strumming as we learn simple songs, using easy chords and strumming patterns. A little bit of useful music theory will be thrown in as well. We'll explore different genres of music such as folk, old time, bluegrass probably a little rock and swing! Learning in a group will make it easy and fun.

There will be a nominal supply fee paid directly to the instructor for your class songbook.

Class Level: Beginner/Novice

Required Class Materials: Ukulele (concert or tenor size works for all size hands and soprano ukuleles are fine for smaller hands) and Pencils. Additional items that are helpful, include a tuner, recording device, music stand.

Julie Austin is a dynamic, energetic performer with over twenty years experience playing sing along, move along family concerts, teaching music, giving ukulele lessons, classes and workshops. She also plays guitar, autoharp, jawharp and loves playing folk, bluegrass, old time, swing and popular music. She has a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance as well as a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood. She has done concerts both nationally and internationally and her last recording, “Fandagumbo” won a National Parent’s Choice Award. Her enthusiasm, musical expertise, early childhood background and love of creating community through music make her a favorite of both children and adults everywhere.
